Study Title
Effect of Weight and Insulin Sensitivity on Reproductive Function in PCOS
Study Description
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can lead to irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain, insulin resistance, bad cholesterol, metabolic issues and problems becoming pregnant. Researchers have not yet found a cure for PCOS and even treating PCOS can be difficult for many women.
If a doctor tells you that you have PCOS, they will recommend you exercise, lose weight and may prescribe metformin. These treatments have been shown to improve symptoms of PCOS for some but no one knows why! This is because the cause or causes of PCOS are not really known.
The PULSE research study is looking to see HOW and WHY these three treatments (exercise, losing weight or taking metformin) help women with PCOS.
